July 2022 Lehigh Valley Homebrewers Newsletter

It's July, fellow LVHb'rs! This means Malt Madness is just around the corner. This is the time of year where we need the most help from our membership. Here's what you can do:

  1. Enter a beer in Malt Madness. Or two. Or ten. How many style tables can we sweep? Also, remember those July HBotY entries need to be entered into Malt Madness!

  2. Sign up to Judge or Steward. Club Judges, we really need your help with the early sessions. Prepare to be cajoled, bribed, bullied, and shamed into supporting your club! You don't need any experience to help as a steward. Stewards help move beer and empties around and learn more about judging and competitions by participating.

  3. Help with competition logistics:

    1. We need prize donations. Gift cards work perfectly - $25 would be generous. If you are a member and business owner, we'd love to send new customers your way!

    2. We need help with food coordination. Breakfast and Lunch arrangements for Aug 20th.

    3. We need six-pack holders and beer cases. We need about 40 cases and all the six pack holders. Yep. All of them. Please bring what you have to the July meeting.

    4. Sign up and help with the Bottle sort.

If you want to help out but aren't sure how, just reach out to an officer or to the competition coordinator, Mel Homik. We'll know what the most pressing need is at that moment. If you want to judge/steward, Sign up at the Malt Madness site.

This month, the meeting will be at Sherman St. Brewing in Allentown PA. There is a slight overlap with another event that night, so we won't start announcements until 8PM-ish.

Next Saturday is the Club Barrel Brew Championship, so please sign up immediately if you want to attend so the officers can arrange for the ingredients purchase (Club will buy ingredients).

Brew on!

Future Meetings:

Meetings are open to anyone (21 and older) who home brews (beer, wine, cider, mead) or is interested in learning about home brewing.  Our club has over 30 certified judges and several members who have "gone pro" by opening their own brewery, meadery, or distillery! - So bring your latest craft creation and get some constructive feedback and/or accolades!
